Doriancoin uses ASERT (Absolutely Scheduled Exponentially Rising Targets) difficulty adjustment, where difficulty adjusts on every block using an exponential formula with a 1-hour half-life.
Previous algorithms: Bitcoin-style 2016-block epochs (before block 1,243,845), LWMA (blocks 1,243,845-1,245,999), and now ASERT (from block 1,246,000).
The adjustment aims to maintain an average block-mining time of 2.5 minutes.
An increase in difficulty indicates blocks are being found faster than target (more miners on the network).
A decrease in difficulty indicates blocks are being found slower than target (fewer miners on the network).
The chart below samples difficulty at regular intervals to show the overall trend.
